Dont miss your best show this year – the super cute Phillip Island penguin parade

August 26, 2020

The famous Phillip Island Penguin Parade will be livestreamed for the world to see, since tourists are unable to visit the state of Victoria.

Circumventing the current coronavirus lockdowns, Phillip Island Nature Parks is using technology to bring the friendly fairy penguins into living rooms around the globe.

From Tuesday, the penguin parade will be streamed on Facebook and YouTube with expert commentary, so viewers will get to watch the little guys in action and learn a thing or two about them as well.

“Our rangers who work at the penguin parade will be providing some live commentary on the penguin characters,” CEO of Phillip Island Nature Parks, Catherine Basterfield, told Melbourne’s 3AW radio.

“I think at the moment penguins just put a smile on everyone’s faces, and that’s what we need right now.”

Phillip Island Nature Parks will livestream the Penguin Parade at 6pm AEST and ask the rangers questions in real time.

“It’s fantastic this wonderful daily display of nature right here in Victoria is now going to be seen in the lounge rooms of people around the world,” Environment Minister Lily D’Ambrosio told 7 News.

“I have no doubt the livestreaming will delight those who’ve never seen these little penguins in action and encourage even more people to visit Australia’s most popular wildlife attraction when it’s safe to do so.”

The stream will last 30 minutes and run nightly for the foreseeable future while Victorian borders remain closed.
