A 3-day tour exploring Kakadu and Tiwi island will bring you to the World Heritage-listed National Park, Warradjin Cultural Centre, Aboriginal rock art at Nourlangie Rock, cruise on Yellow Water billabong and experience Aboriginal Culture on Tiwi Island.

Darwin – Kakadu
As this Short Break departs at 6.30am, accommodations will need to be pre-booked for the previous night.
Depart Darwin and travel through pristine wetland regions to Kakadu National Park. Visit the Warradjan Cultural Center, then join your local guide on a cruise to experience the dramatic scenery of the Yellow Water Billabong. Keep an eye out for saltwater crocodiles, an array of smaller wildlife, and the colorful range of birdlife for which this region is renowned. Stop at Nourlangie, where your Driver Guide will lead you on a walk to view the rock art galleries

Join your Driver Guide to explore the World Heritage area of Ubirr, where you’ll climb up through the ancient Aboriginal rock art galleries to the lookout for the view over the wetlands. Later, board the Guluyambi Cultural Cruise along the East Alligator River. An Aboriginal guide will provide an insight into their culture. With special permission of the local people you’ll be able to go ashore in Arnhem Land, before heading back downstream. Visit the Bowali Visitor Centre, which houses a wealth of information on the park’s ecology before return to Darwin.

Take the 2½ hour cruise to Bathurst Island. You’ll be met by your local guide for a journey through the progressive, modern day Aboriginal community of Wurrumiyanga. Visit the Museum and Early Mission Precinct. Spend time with some Tiwi ladies, while they work on their weaving and painting. They will demonstrate their totem dances and perform a smoking ceremony to bless the visitors. You’ll sample billy tea and damper with your lunch. Visit the Art & Crafts Centers, where you can purchase art and crafts at island prices. Transfer to your ferry departing the island at 3.15pm for Darwin, where your Short Break concludes.

Some customers like to enhance their holiday by extending their stay before/behind and/or post-tour. $200 per person is applied for trip extension or early arrivals.

The additional cost for these land arrangements will be added to your final payment invoice, due 90 days prior to departure, and is strictly subject to availability.
A friendly reminder that tipping is not included in your package. For the services of your guide, it is suggested that you budget for AUD$10-20 per person, per day. Tipping of your driver is also appreciated and we would suggest AUD$5 per person, per day.
As this particular tour does not collect a ‘kitty’, it is entirely up to the individual whether or not you would like to tip locals for the services of things like taxis or when dining at restaurants. In these cases, we suggest you allow 10-20% of the value of the service as a tip. Again, it is not compulsory and entirely up to the individual.

The total length of the tour in days includes time spent in flight and is subject to change depending on the flight schedule, please refer to the day by day itinerary for the time spent on land.
