Arrival in the ancient Egyptian city of Cairo where you will be met by our representative who will assist you through customs. After meeting our guide and bus driver, you will be transferred in your airconditioned coach to your hotel.
Cairo, with a population of 17 million, Cairo, called Al-Qahirah in Arabic, is not only Africa’s largest city but the political and cultural center of the Arab World. Cairo’s old quarters retain their ancient charm with many streets still known by descriptions given to them by medieval chroniclers. Modern Cairo’s architecture is distinguished by Ottoman and later European influences – especially in commercial architecture – particularly as the city’s population boomed in the 19th century.

Day 2: Pyramids

After breakfast at your hotel, we will visit some of the most important sights in Egypt.
The Pyramids & Sphinx were reckoned by the Greeks to be one of the Seven Wonders of the World. A single pyramid consists of 2,300,00 blocks, each weighing an average of 2.5 tons. In the face of such immensity, one cannot hel but feel the wonder and awe that so many writers & artists have sought to convey of the centuries. The Cheops Pyramid is especially interesting since its interior burial chambers are open for public inspection. Not far from the Pyramids is The Great Sphinx of Giza. This date back to the time of Chephren (2520BC). Cut from natural yellowish limestone & stands at 65ft high, 187ft long, this unforgettable statue combines the head of a Pharaoh with a lion’s body.
Memphis served as the capital of Upper & Lower Egypt some 5,000 years ago during the 1st Dynasty. Menes, the first pharaoh of this dynasty, built a great white-walled palace & the Temple of Ptah here.
Sakkara one of the most exciting historical & archaeological area in all of Egypt is Sakkara, situated about 12 miles South West of Cairo. The site is dominated by the famous step pyramid of King Zoser. It was the first pyramid to be built in ancient Egypt, preceding those at Giza by many centuries, & is the work of the famous pharaonic architect, Imhotep.

Day 3: Egyptian Museum Citadel Mosques Khan Khalili Bazaars.

After breakfast, you will be treated to some of Egypt’s visual history.
The Egyptian Museum is the most important depository of Egyptian antiquities anywhere in the world. It features artifacts from the Pharaonic and Graeco-Roman periods, including the celebrated mummies of ancient Egypt’s king and Tut Ankh Amun treasures.
The Citadel situated on a highly visible spur of the Mokattam Hills of Old Cairo, was the nerve center of Egypt for almost 700 years. Construction of the grand structure began in 1176 and was completed by Muhammad Ali Pasha, ruler of Egypt in the late 19th century. Mamluk sultans and Turkish governors resided in the Citadel, which is among the world’s most splendid monuments of medieval warfare.
Facing the Citadel is the Mosque of Sultan Hassan, built between 1356 and 1363 and perhaps the most majestic monument of Arab architecture in Egypt and the Mosque of Al-Rifai was constructed in two phases over the period between 1869 and 1912, when it was finally completed.
The tour also includes a visit to Khan ElKhalili, known as the Turkish bazaar during the Ottoman period, was built in 1382 by Emir DjaharksElKhalili, in the heart of what was then Fatimid City. Until this day, the bazaar is a center of trade and communion in the city, and offers a wide array of antiques, handcrafts of gold, silver and copper as well as numerous old coffee shops and local restaurants which attract both Egyptians and tourists alike.
We then will transfer you back to your hotel for your night of leisure.

Day 4: Cairo Luxor.
After breakfast and check out, you will be transferred to Cairo domestic airport for the next part of your journey down the Nile, your flight to Luxor. On arrival at Luxor airport, you will be transferred to your Luxury Nile cruise. After checking into your cabins, please join us for a delicious lunch onboard your ship.
East Bank Visits
Visit the magnificent Karnak Temple, the largest of its kind. The Karnak temple complex is about 3.5 km from Luxor Temple. Within its area, the grandest of all temples is dedicated to the great Pharaonic god, Amun. Leading to the temple is a procession of ram sphinxes that represents Amun. Although begun in the Middle Kingdom, the temple’s vastness comes from successive dynasties which built on to it.
Luxor Temple
Separated from the Nile only by a street, the Luxor temple sits in the city’s center. The temple’s main purpose was as a secret location for Amun, the lord of gods.The Luxor temple was built by Amenhotep III in the 18th Dynasty.The temple’s most distinguishing features are its interior rooms with magnificent inscriptions and hall of columns, each one capped with crowns of lotus flowers.

Day 5: Luxor Esna Edfu.

After breakfast, please join for an excursion to the West Bank. Here, we will take a visit to the burial places of the Pharaohs – the Valley of the Kings – where Howard Carter discovered the tomb of Tutankhamen in 1922. Continue to the adjacent Valley of the Queens, the mortuary temple of Hatshepsuit and the Colossi of Memnon
The Valley of the Kings includes the tombs of the Theban rulers, as Seli I & Tutankhamen. The mortuary includes the temple of Hatshepsuit, the only woman Pharaoh to rule ancient Egypt.
We then proceed to the Valley of the Queens to visit the burial site of some Royal Consorts & their offspring. A panoramic stop at the Colossi of AmenhotepIII named by the Greeks.
After crossing the lock, we arrive at Edfu, where you’ll be treated to a delicious dinner and have the chance to have a night at leisure to explore.

Day 6: Edfu Kom Ombo 
Aswan.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Today, we visit the wonderfully preserved Temple of Horus at Edfu. Experience the horse drawn carriage ride back and forth to the temple.
We then get back onboard & Sail ToKomOmbo. We will visit the Ptolemaic temple dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek and the falcon-headed Horus, god of the morning sun.
The Ptolemaic Temple of KomOmbo with its beautiful murals, “bas relief”, is 45km, north of Aswan. The Temple, dating back to the Ptolemies, is built on a high dune overlooking the Nile River. KonOmbo is actually two temples consisting of a Temple to Sobek& the Temple of Haroies.
We will then get back onboard our cruise ship & sail to the stunning city of Aswan. Here you will check in to your hotel & have your night at leisure. Dinner is available at your hotel.

Day 7: Aswan.

After breakfast, we will explore the region of Aswan & its sights of wonder.Today, we start off at the Aswan Dam (completed in 1971) & the Old Dam (completed in 1902). You will also get to see the spectacular Philae Temple, dedicated to the Goddess Isis. This structure was recued from the rising waters of Lake Nasser at the time of the High Dam’s construction.
The Aswan High Dam – this is located just north of the border between Egypt & Sudan. It is a huge rock dam which captures the world’s longest river, the Nile, in the world’s largest artificial reservoir, Lake Nasser. The dam is also known as “Saad El-Aali” in Arabic, was completed in 1970 after 10 years of work.
Philae Temple – this is a short trip on a motorboat. This will bring us to the magnificent vista of the island, before landing at what would have been the ancient quay on the south side. The temple is dedicated to the Goddess Isis & has many legends connected to it. The most well-known legend tells us how Isis found the heart of Osiris after his murder by his brother, Seth.
We then take a Felucca trip around Aswan for a panoramic view of the island (a camera would be handy). We sail around the picturesque island of Aswan, along the Nile in a traditional Felucca.
After this amazing experience, you will then return to your hotel for dinner & free time to explore.

Day 9: Cairo Alexandria.

After breakfast& check out , we have a surprise in store for you. A trip to the coastal town of Alexandria.
We drive to Alexandria by A/C van. Upon arrival in Alexandria, check into your hotel.

The second largest city in Egypt, Alexandria, known as “The Pearl of the Mediterranean”, has an atmosphere that is more Mediterranean than Middle Eastern; with its ambience and cultural heritage distancing it from the rest of the country.
Founded by Alexander the Great in 331 BC, Alexandria was originally the capital of Graeco-Roman Egypt, its status; a beacon of culture symbolized by Pharos, the legendary lighthouse that was one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Alexandria was also the setting for the stormy relationship between Cleopatra and Mark Antony, as well as a center for learning in the ancient world.
From the 19th century Alexandria took on a new role, as a focus for Egypt’s commercial and maritime expansion. This Alexandria has been immortalized by writers such as E-M- Forster and Cavafy. Generations of immigrants from Greece, Italy and the Levant settled here and made the city synonymous with commerce, cosmopolitanism and bohemian culture creating the diverse fusions of culture, for which Alexandria is today famous.
There are a number of must see sights in Alexandria, amongst which the most well known is probably the Alexandria Bibliotheca. Located on the original site of the Ancient Library of Alexandria, the spectacular architectural masterpiece contains more than 8,000 books, many of which are all considered priceless. The Catacombs of Kom el-Shuqafa are another interesting part of Alexandria’s history and stand as a three-storey complex encompassing a maze of tombs built into stone walls. Featuring an ancient circular staircase which was once used to lower bodies into the vaults, deep inside the catacombs, visitors will find an ancient banqueting hall, complete with stone couches, where relatives visiting the deceased would come to dine.

Day 10: Alexandria.

After breakfast, transfer for full day tour to visit Pompay’s pillar, Catacomb, Montazah Gardens, national Museum & Alexandria New Library.
Pompey’s Pillar, a column of red Aswan granite standing some 90 feet high with a circumference of 27 feet, It was erected in honor of the Emperor Diocletian, as a Greek inscription on the West side of the base indicates.
Catacomb, an extensive three levels funerary, probably dating from the 2nd century AD.
Montazah Gardens, at the eastern end of Alexandria, stretching along the Mediterranean sea and surrounded by the Royal summer Palaces of the former King Farouk.
National Museum, Alex’s newest museum; the Alexandria National Museum opened in 2003. Its 1,800 artifacts are on display to the public for the first time.
Alexandria New Library, which was inaugurated in 2002, is one of the biggest scientific & cultural centers specialized in the region affairs & its culture, science & arts to attract scientists from the whole world to Alexandria as a world center for culture & knowledge

Important Information
Tipping
A friendly reminder that tipping is not included in your package. Tipping is not compulsory on your trip, but they can make a big difference to locals employed in the tourism industry. If you feel that your guide and driver have done an impeccable job, you can choose to give a gratuity, but this is entirely your decision.
For the services of your guide, it is suggested that you budget for AUD$10-20 per person, per day. Tipping of your driver is also appreciated and we would suggest AUD$5 per person, per day.
As this particular tour does not collect a ‘kitty’, it is entirely up to the individual whether or not you would like to tip locals for the services of things like taxis or when dining at restaurants. In these cases, we suggest you allow 10-20% of the value of the service as a tip. Again, it is not compulsory and entirely up to the individual.

Visa & Passport information
It is the traveler’s responsibility to ensure they have a valid passport. The passport must be valid for a minimum of six months from the intended date of return and must have more than 2 blank pages.
Australian passport holders will require a visa to enter Egypt.
You will be able to obtain your E-visa when you have all of your travel documents approximately 30-40 days prior to departure. Visit https://visa2egypt.gov.eg/ and create an account for yourself to then start the application process.
